In general, longer boards are faster than shorter boards. Faster boards tend to be longer and more narrow for less resistance in the water. Less resistance means the board takes less energy to travel at speed.
The maneuverability rating helps in determining how a board will react on the water surface. Generally, shorter boards are more maneuverable than longer ones.
