paddle board care and maintenance

PADDLE BOARD CARE AND MAINTENANCE
BEST PRACTICES                 WHAT NOT TO DO

Keep your Wappa in top shape and looking beautiful by following proper paddle board care and maintenance procedures.

BEST PRACTICES

  • Rinse all equipment thoroughly with clean fresh water after every use to avoid corrosion on hardware and clogging of the air vent. This is especially important if you paddle on saltwater.
  • Store in a ventilated, cool, shaded area when not in use.
  • If you are hanging out on the water and need to take a dip to cool off, most likely your board does too. Flip your paddle board a few times in the water to help keep it cool.
  • Take care with your stand-up paddle board to avoid cracks, scratches, and dents.
  • If your board suffers a hard impact from surrounding objects, paddle in land to check it out and make sure there are no punctures. Do not keep paddling if you suspect water can enter the accident area.
  • Remove your paddle board completely from the water when not in use
  • Keep your paddle board and traction pad out of direct sun when not in use. Place the board bottom side up when on shore.
  • Keep your board fins side up when the board is out of the water. It will prevent the fin boxes and fins from getting damaged.
  • Remove the fins from your board after each use.
  • Store your board in a dry, cool place and remove it from your board bag when wet.
  • Rinse the air-vent with water.
  • When transporting your paddle board, use a SUP bag with padding to help prevent dings/scratches and to deflect the harsh heat and UV rays from the sun.

WHAT NOT TO DO

  • Don’t leave your paddle board lying on the ground, in your car or anywhere with direct exposure to the sun for an extended period of time. Put it in a deflective board bag or shaded area when possible.
  • Avoid hitting rocks, docks and other hard immovable objects.
  • Don’t leave your paddle board at the water’s edge when not in use. It will wash up and down with the waves potentially causing damage to the fin boxes. It could also cause you to lose your board if the tide goes out. Outgoing water may simply pick up your unattended board and carry it away.
  • Don’t leave your board in direct sunlight for hours on end.
  • Don’t leave your board on the ground fins side down.
  • Don’t use ratchet straps to strap your board to the bed of a truck. Get a proper rack and gator grip straps.
  • Don’t drag your board on concrete or other hard and rough surfaces. It may damage the clear coat finish.
  • Don’t drop your paddle board onto concrete, asphalt, or other hard surfaces.
